Meet the team

As Chief Executive Officer of Action Renewables, Terry is responsible for the company’s overall strategic direction, including the implementation of activities that align with the company’s mission and vision.

Terry has worked for Action Renewables for 20 years and prior to that, Terry gained over 20 years’ energy industry experience at Northern Ireland Electricity (NIE), where he acted as Customer Relations Manager for NIE’s Transmission and Distribution business.

In his studies, Terry gained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Finance, a Masters of Business Administration and an Open University accreditation in Energy for a Sustainable Future.

Irene Robinson joined Action Renewables as Accountant in 2007 and was appointed to the Board of Directors in 2014. She holds a First class Honours degree in Economics and Accounting, a Masters in Accounting, and a Postgraduate Diploma in IT Applications. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland and a Member of the Institute of Professional Financial Managers. Her role is to oversee the financial management and administration functions of the company and to advise the Board on financial strategy and planning.

Jonathan Buick is Chief Operating Officer in Action Renewables. He has over ten years experience in energy and environmental consultancy, waste management and renewable energy technologies. Jonathan is an authority on government support measures for renewable energy, such as the Northern Ireland Renewables Obligation and the Feed-in Tariff in Great Britain. His technical and economic expertise in renewable energy spans all technologies, but particularly wind, anaerobic digestion and solar thermal and this expertise has led to him providing training and advice to a wide range of stakeholders, from the farming sector in Northern Ireland to the Government of Azerbaijan. Jonathan has a MSc in Environmental Management and Policy and is a Chartered Scientist.

As Head of Projects, William supports the delivery of renewable energy projects in the private and public sectors across electricity, transport and heat. He also delivers our flagship charitable project, the Action Renewables Solar PV Support Programme. William has been an Executive Director and company Secretary for Action Renewables Energy Trading limited since 2019.
He has worked with Action Renewables for 8 years and prior to that, spent 5 years working within the energy sector with a prominent electricity supplier. William represents Action Renewables at various stakeholder events and currently sits on the Energy Institute Committee, Northern Ireland branch and the SONI Grid Code Review Panel.

William holds an ILM Leadership and Development – Levels 2 & 4, Energy Saving Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) Training and ISO 14064-1 Greenhouse Gas Inventories Training and BSc Environmental Management.

With over 20 years’ experience in the energy industry in a range of roles, Mark works with clients who are interested in delivering energy savings and deploying renewable energy projects to achieve carbon reduction objectives.  Mark holds a BA (Hons) Business Studies and Master of Business Administration (MBA), and is a member of Chartered Management Institute.

As Head of Business Development, Giorgio is responsible for the development of new income-generating activities for the company and provide strategic advice to the board on new opportunities. Giorgio has over 15 years’ experience in business development working at various companies around the world, including the set up of a biofuel production facility from the ground up. A large part of his work at Action Renewables is focusing on hydrogen, e-fuels and the maximisation of revenues from renewable electricity. Giorgio has a BSc(1st) in Economics & Business.

Lana joined Action Renewables in September 2018 in the Microgeneration team. She holds a BA (Hons) degree in Sculpture from Edinburgh College of Art and has over 11 years banking experience in mortgage advice, branch management and sales. She has extensive experience in managing a diverse range of projects at branch management level. As part of the Microgeneration team, her responsibilities include data management, data submissions and managing client records. Lana also holds ILM Level 4 in Leadership and Management.

Annette Herty is Action Renewables’ Office Manager and has been with the company since 2006. Annette has a wealth of experience in team management and customer service. She previously worked with British Airways as Team Manager in both sales and customer service. Prior to this she provided clerical support for the headquarters of the Eastern Health & Social Services Board in Belfast.

With 20 years experience in the environment and energy sector, Dawn manages the consultancy team at Action Renewables working with a wide range of businesses, community organisations and other stakeholders on energy efficiency, renewables and sustainability projects.  Dawn is an Environmental Practitioner, a member of the Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment (IEMA) and Registered environmental auditor with IEMA and has a MSc Environmental Management, along with City & Guilds Level 4 award in Leadership & Management (Institute of Leadership & Management)  and Certificate in Carbon Literacy.

Elsa joined the company in April 2017 as Assistant Accountant and is a qualified Accounting Technician with IATI. Elsa previously worked as Finance Team Leader for Musgrave Retail Partners NI, and has over  30 years experience working in finance over a diverse range of businesses.

Matthew Esler joined Action Renewables in July 2017 as a placement student as part of his degree course, Land Use and Environmental Management with Professional Studies at Queen’s University Belfast and graduated in July 2019.  Matthew works within the Large-Scale Generators team and has played a role in the accreditation of many large-scale renewable technologies such as Wind, Hydro, Solar and Anaerobic Digestion under the Northern Ireland Renewables Obligation (NIRO). Matthew is also assisting and advising clients on grid connection applications, audits and various other projects within business development.

James joined Action Renewables in March 2018 to lead and drive the company’s commercial expansion into GB as well as manage and grow our commercial activities in Northern Ireland. James has 15 years experience in Business Development with 11 years in the Renewables industry. James regularly attends stakeholder events in both Northern Ireland and GB.

Jo-Anne Crossley joined the Action Renewables team in 2021 as Marketing and Communications Manager.  She holds a BA Degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management from Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh,  is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (MCIM) and Chartered Marketeer with Level 6 qualification in Marketing and CIM Level 4 in Digital Marketing, along with Chartered Management Institute Level 5 in Leadership and Management.  Jo-Anne has a wealth of experience in Marketing, Communications and Business Development having worked in Management roles within Private, Public and Voluntary sector organisations.

Hollie joined the Action Renewables team in 2022 as a Chemical Engineer within the Business Development team working on upcoming Hydrogen projects. Hollie graduated in Chemical Engineering from Queen’s University Belfast in 2020, followed by Post-Graduate Certificates in Zero-Carbon Engineering from Queen’s University Belfast and Business Sustainability Management from the University of Cambridge.  Hollie’s previous experience includes water and wastewater, manufacturing, and pharmaceuticals.

Kevin joined Action Renewables in April 2018 as part of the Microgeneration team. His main responsibilities include data management and data submission to Ofgem to ensure ROC payments to clients. Kevin has over 5 years’ experience from Lloyds Banking Group in managing customer accounts, team management, customer service and sales. He is currently studying with the Open University for a degree in Environmental Management and Technology.

A recent graduate, Declan has been a part of the large scale team since 2020. Progressing from an Intern to a Assistant Project Manager to Project Manager, Declan now works with the ROC claim submissions and data analysis.  Declan holds a BSc Hons (1st) Energy from Ulster University.

Ian initially joined Action Renewables in May 2017, working on the Microgeneration team and was then appointed Manager of the Action Renewables Energy Association (AREA) in October 2017, where he promotes and develops its membership through regular seminars and conferences. He encourages the increased uptake of Renewable Energy by liaising with Government Departments, local Councils and other public sector organisations.

Ian is also developing renewable commodity trading opportunities in Renewable Obligation Certificates (ROCs), Renewable Electricity Guarantees of Origin (REGOs) and Renewable Transport Fuel Obligations (RTFCs) in Northern Ireland, the UK and Europe.

Ian had worked previously in Banking and Accounting.

David joined the Action Renewables team in 2022 as a Project Manager working within the Consultancy team. David has experience within project management in his previous role within the retail sector. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Environmental Planning from Queens University Belfast and a Master’s of Science in City, Planning and Design also from Queens University Belfast. As part of his MSc he completed a study that explored renewable development in Northern Ireland and the barriers associated with the implementation of policy development.

Chris joined the Action Renewables team in 2022, working as a Project Manager working within the Consultancy team. He has a background in Town Planning having worked as a Planning Officer in England in his previous role. Chris holds a Bachelors Degree in Environmental Planning from Queens and a Master’s of Science in City Planning and Design also from Queens University Belfast.

Allison joined Action Renewables in April 2023 as the Charity Programme Manager. She is responsible for supporting the delivery of existing charitable activities, developing new projects in line with Action Renewables charitable objectives and developing the charity’s relationship with several external organisations. Allison holds a degree in Business Studies and a Postgrad Diploma in Entrepreneurial Business Development using IT. Allison has a wealth of experience in Marketing, Communications, Events and Business Development.

Jennifer joined Action Renewables in October 2022 bringing knowledge and experience from her master’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering (including academic research into innovative renewable approaches), and previous employment in the finance sector. Both involved gaining project management experience enabling her to commence a career with Action Renewables as Project Manager within the Microgeneration team.

Ruairi joined the Action Renewables team in 2023 as a Project Manager within the Large Scale Generator team. Ruairí graduated in Business Management from Queen’s University Belfast in 2017, followed by a Master’s of Science in City Planning and Design. Ruairí’s previous experience includes education as well as project management in the business services sector.

Joined Action Renewables in April 2023 as a Project Manager within the Microgeneration team. He graduated in 2010 with a Degree in Environmental Health from Ulster University followed by an Advanced Diploma in Management Practice from Ulster Business School.  Previous experience includes working within the Logistics sector, developing  software management systems and working within a quality and compliance role.
