Meet the team

As Chief Executive Officer of Action Renewables, Terry is responsible for the company’s overall strategic direction, including the implementation of activities that align with the company’s mission and vision.

Terry has worked for Action Renewables for 20 years and prior to that, Terry gained over 20 years’ energy industry experience at Northern Ireland Electricity (NIE), where he acted as Customer Relations Manager for NIE’s Transmission and Distribution business.

In his studies, Terry gained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Finance, a Masters of Business Administration and an Open University accreditation in Energy for a Sustainable Future.

Irene Robinson joined Action Renewables as Accountant in 2007 and was appointed to the Board of Directors in 2014. She holds a First class Honours degree in Economics and Accounting, a Masters in Accounting, and a Postgraduate Diploma in IT Applications. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland and a Member of the Institute of Professional Financial Managers. Her role is to oversee the financial management and administration functions of the company and to advise the Board on financial strategy and planning.

Jonathan Buick is Chief Operating Officer in Action Renewables. He has over ten years experience in energy and environmental consultancy, waste management and renewable energy technologies. Jonathan is an authority on government support measures for renewable energy, such as the Northern Ireland Renewables Obligation and the Feed-in Tariff in Great Britain. His technical and economic expertise in renewable energy spans all technologies, but particularly wind, anaerobic digestion and solar thermal and this expertise has led to him providing training and advice to a wide range of stakeholders, from the farming sector in Northern Ireland to the Government of Azerbaijan. Jonathan has a MSc in Environmental Management and Policy and is a Chartered Scientist.

With over 20 years’ experience in the energy industry in a range of roles, Mark works with clients who are interested in delivering energy savings and deploying renewable energy projects to achieve carbon reduction objectives.  Mark holds a BA (Hons) Business Studies and Master of Business Administration (MBA), and is a member of Chartered Management Institute.

As Head of Projects, William supports the delivery of renewable energy projects in the private and public sectors across electricity, transport and heat. He also delivers our flagship charitable project, the Action Renewables Solar PV Support Programme. William has been an Executive Director and company Secretary for Action Renewables Energy Trading limited since 2019.
He has worked with Action Renewables for 8 years and prior to that, spent 5 years working within the energy sector with a prominent electricity supplier. William represents Action Renewables at various stakeholder events and currently sits on the Energy Institute Committee, Northern Ireland branch and the SONI Grid Code Review Panel.

William holds an ILM Leadership and Development – Levels 2 & 4, Energy Saving Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) Training and ISO 14064-1 Greenhouse Gas Inventories Training and BSc Environmental Management.

Lana joined Action Renewables in September 2018 in the Microgeneration team. She holds a BA (Hons) degree in Sculpture from Edinburgh College of Art, an ILM Level 4 in Leadership and Management and has over 11 years banking experience in mortgage advice, branch management and sales. She has extensive experience in managing a diverse range of projects at branch management level. In November 2024, Lana became Head of Charity Delivery for Action Renewables and will oversee the charitable projects along with the implementation of the new Network – a renewable energy platform for delivering and supporting the pathway to decarbonisation across Northern Ireland.

Elsa joined the company in April 2017 as Assistant Accountant and is a qualified Accounting Technician with IATI. Elsa previously worked as Finance Team Leader for Musgrave Retail Partners NI, and has over  30 years experience working in finance over a diverse range of businesses.

Kevin joined Action Renewables in April 2018 as part of the Microgeneration team and is currently Senior Project Manager with the Large scale generation team with responsibility for OFGEM audits and applications, compliance, grid connection applications, new renewable energy projects, portfolio management and RTFO’s. Kevin has over 5 years’ experience from Lloyds Banking Group in managing customer accounts, team management, customer service and sales.

Annette Herty is Action Renewables’ Office Manager and has been with the company since 2006. Annette has a wealth of experience in team management and customer service. She previously worked with British Airways as Team Manager in both sales and customer service. Prior to this she provided clerical support for the headquarters of the Eastern Health & Social Services Board in Belfast.

Jo-Anne Crossley joined the Action Renewables team in 2021 as Marketing and Communications Manager.  She holds a BA Degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management from Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh,  is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (MCIM) and Chartered Marketeer with Level 6 qualification in Marketing and CIM Level 4 in Digital Marketing, along with Chartered Management Institute Level 5 in Leadership and Management.  Jo-Anne has a wealth of experience in Marketing, Communications and Business Development having worked in Management roles within Private, Public and Voluntary sector organisations.

Ian initially joined Action Renewables in May 2017, working on the Microgeneration team and was then appointed Manager of the Action Renewables Energy Association (AREA) in October 2017, where he promotes and develops its membership through regular seminars and conferences. He encourages the increased uptake of Renewable Energy by liaising with Government Departments, local Councils and other public sector organisations.

Ian is also developing renewable commodity trading opportunities in Renewable Obligation Certificates (ROCs), Renewable Electricity Guarantees of Origin (REGOs) and Renewable Transport Fuel Obligations (RTFCs) in Northern Ireland, the UK and Europe.

Ian had worked previously in Banking and Accounting.

James joined Action Renewables in March 2018 to lead and drive the company’s commercial expansion into GB as well as manage and grow our commercial activities in Northern Ireland. James has 15 years experience in Business Development with 11 years in the Renewables industry. James regularly attends stakeholder events in both Northern Ireland and GB.

David joined the Action Renewables team in 2022 as a Project Manager working within the Consultancy team. David has experience within project management in his previous role within the retail sector. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Environmental Planning from Queens University Belfast and a Master’s of Science in City, Planning and Design also from Queens University Belfast. As part of his MSc he completed a study that explored renewable development in Northern Ireland and the barriers associated with the implementation of policy development.

Joined Action Renewables in April 2023 as a Project Manager within the Microgeneration team. He graduated in 2010 with a Degree in Environmental Health from Ulster University followed by an Advanced Diploma in Management Practice from Ulster Business School.  Previous experience includes working within the Logistics sector, developing  software management systems and working within a quality and compliance role.

David joined Action Renewables in July 2024 after working for three years in commercial customer care. Back in 2019-20, he was a placement student at Action Renewables whilst completing a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Geography with Diploma of Professional Practice. At Action Renewables, he is part of the Microgeneration team.

Mansi is a seasoned Project Manager with a strong background in Finance and IT. She joined Action Renewables in June 2024, bringing her expertise to the Consultancy team. With PRINCE2 Agile certification and advanced degrees in MBA (Finance & IT) and MSc Business Analytics from Queen’s University, Mansi is well-equipped to deliver successful renewable energy projects. Outside of work, she enjoys delving into cultural studies and practicing spirituality. Driven by a desire to contribute to a more sustainable future, Mansi is excited to be part of Action Renewables.

Ellen McCarlie has been involved within Action renewables since 2021 as a placement student from Ulster University completing her course, BSc Hons in Energy where she was awarded a first-Class honour in 2023. Throughout her final years of university, she has worked alongside Action renewables within the Large-Scale Team where she now holds a full-time position working on numerous projects including Large Scale renewable Technologies under the Northern Ireland Renewables Obligation (NIRO).

Conor joined Action Renewables in 2021 as a placement student from Queen’s University Belfast, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Management with Professional Studies. At Action Renewables, he is part of the Large-Scale Generation Team, contributing to various projects such as renewable technology audit administration, NIE Grid Applications, the Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation (RTFO) scheme, and the NI Renewables Obligation (NIRO) scheme.

Tommy joined Action Renewables in June 2024 as a Project Manager within the Large-Scale Generation team. He graduated in 2016 with a Degree in Environmental planning from Queens University.

Previous experience includes working with renewable generation technologies, product procurement, logistics and Information technology.

At Action Renewables, he is part of the Large-Scale Generation Team, contributing to various projects related to the Northern Ireland Renewables Obligation (NIRO)

Alyssa joined Action Renewables in 2022, as part of the Large-Scale Team during her placement year while pursuing a BSc Hons in Energy at Ulster University. She graduated with First Class Honours and a Diploma in Professional Practice with Distinction in 2024. After completing her studies, Alyssa re-joined Action Renewables in June 2024 as an Assistant Project manager, contributing her expertise to the Large-Scale Team.
