RER – Renewable Electricity Register (update)

27/03/2025

Ofgem has had plans in the works for a number of years to update the online portal used to manage accreditations, ROC submissions and ROC generation etc. The RER (Renewable Electricity Register) will replace the old Renewables and CHP Register (R&CHP). The old system will be taken offline at 5pm on Friday 11th April 2025, and we now know that Ofgem plans to launch the replacement on Tuesday 15th April 2025.

What does this mean for you, our clients? We have been told that the impact should be minimal. Existing accreditation data will all be migrated across on to the new platform. Logins, passwords, data uploads should all remain unaffected and we hope that interruptions to any services should be kept to a minimum.

We have been liaising with Ofgem on our clients behalf regarding the switch and providing feedback at key stages throughout the development process. We remain assured that Ofgem are making these necessary changes for the correct reasons and the portal itself is more user friendly for both Generators and Agents alike.
