We are Aimee and Hannah, and we have been doing a placement in Action Renewables as part of our PGCE Science course. This has been an exciting opportunity to learn more about renewable energy. We have had the chance to speak to many members of the team about their role in the charity, and learn more about their area of expertise. This has been very beneficial to our understanding, and inspiring to see how passionate the team is about what they do.

These conversations have helped to deepen our understanding about renewable energy and the need to bring it into schools and the community. During our placement, we have been helping the team to develop resources for school visits to help inform children early about sustainability. This has included creating presentations for different age groups, including showing Key Stage 4 students how sustainability could link to a future career. Alongside the presentations, we have also developed a range of activities for different abilities. These activities promote active learning and will help make sustainability more enjoyable and digestible for students.

MyEarth is an exciting and intuitive website that can make sustainability more accessible, while also showing the impact that each individual user can have for the planet. Using MyEarth, we have developed action card activities which can be used by both schools and individuals to encourage them to think about renewable energy.

We would like to thank Lana and the team at Action Renewables for being so welcoming and helping us improve our understanding of renewable energy and the need for young people to share this understanding.
