East Belfast Enterprise Powers Ahead with Action Renewables in their largest solar PV installation.
08/09/2025
For immediate release:
Belfast-based environmental charity Action Renewables continues to support non-profit organisations through its Solar PV Programme, designed to combat rising electricity costs and tackle climate change. Among the latest to benefit from the initiative is East Belfast Enterprise, which recently completed a 49kW photovoltaic (PV) installation at its headquarters on the Newtownards Road.
The installation, delivered by Dowds Group through Action Renewables’ competitive framework process, is projected to generate significant energy savings over the next 25 years. With electricity bills rising and sustainability a growing priority, the project will not only reduce East Belfast Enterprise’s operational costs through a discounted electricity tariff, but also significantly cut its carbon footprint.
Lana Moore, Head of Charity Delivery at Action Renewables, attended the installation and said:
“East Belfast Enterprise plays a vital role in supporting local businesses and entrepreneurs. We’re delighted to support them in becoming more energy resilient and environmentally conscious. The benefits of this installation will be long-term—lower electricity bills, reduced emissions, and a visible commitment to sustainable practices. This is another great example of how local organisations can lead by example in the transition to a greener economy.”
East Belfast Enterprise applied to the programme after recognising the opportunity to invest in their building’s future.
Jonathan McAlpin, CEO of East Belfast Enterprise, commented:
“We’re always looking for ways to innovate and reduce our environmental impact. This solar installation is a practical step forward, and we’re grateful to Action Renewables for making it accessible. Not only will it help us cut costs, but it sends a clear message to our tenants and partners about our commitment to sustainability.”
Action Renewables has worked with over 7,000 renewable energy customers across Northern Ireland, providing services including ROC (Renewable Obligation Certificates) payments and grid export management. Their Solar PV Programme is open to eligible non-profit organisations, helping to make renewable energy both affordable and achievable.
The Solar PV Programme is currently open to new applicants who can apply online, by visiting actionrenewables.co.uk – your partner of choice for renewable energy.
